Abstract

Background and Objective: Suicide attempts among teenage girls have become a serious problem and challenge in society. This qualitative study aimed to provide an in-depth and comprehensive explanation of the factors that contribute to suicide attempts among teenage girls.

Method: The present research was conducted using a qualitative approach and thematic analysis method. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with 10 adolescent girls aged 13 to 17 with a history of suicide attempts, who were selected via purposive sampling. The sampling and interview process continued until theoretical saturation was reached. The data were then analyzed using the Braun and Clarke analytical guide to extract the main themes.

Findings: The Data analysis revealed six main organizing themes as the key factors influencing this phenomenon: maladaptive emotional self-regulation, lack of problem-solving skills, excessive parental control, destructive and ineffective family communication patterns, a pervasive sense of despair and hopelessness, and, finally, negative modeling of harmful behaviors.to God ……

Conclusion: Ultimately, the results indicate that the phenomenon of suicide attempts in this specific age and gender group is rooted in a complex and multi-layered interaction of skill deficits and shortcomings at the individual level, as well as unhealthy and harmful intra-systemic functioning at the family level. These findings clearly reveal the necessity of designing, developing, and implementing integrated, multifaceted, and systematic intervention programs that simultaneously and complementarily focus on both empowering the adolescent individually and modifying relational, emotional, and supportive dynamics within the family context. Such interventions could be highly effective in preventing these harmful behaviors.tendency; ……
