Read More Background and Objective: Childhood trauma experience is known to be one of the major risk factors for the development of depressive and anxiety disorders in adolescents. The aim of this narrative review was to investigate the impact of various childhood traumas on depressive and anxiety disorders in adolescents and the possible role of mediating variables. Method: In this narrative review, studies related to the effects of childhood trauma on anxiety and depression disorders in adolescents were identified and reviewed through the PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases. Data extracted from 25 studies were analyzed and organized to identify psychological consequences, types of trauma, measurement tools, the role of mediating variables, and sample characteristics to determine the key aspects of the impact of trauma on adolescents' mental disorders. Findings: The results showed that adolescents who experienced childhood trauma are at a higher risk of developing depression and anxiety disorders. The severity and frequency of trauma were correlated with the severity of depression and anxiety symptoms. Sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and emotional neglect had the most significant effects. The mediating role of resilience, perceived social support, emotion regulation, school engagement, and self-concept in reducing the effects of trauma on depression and anxiety was reported in some studies, indicating that these factors can moderate the negative effects of trauma and reduce the risk of mental disorders. Conclusion: The experience of childhood trauma, particularly emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect, is associated with an increased likelihood of depression and anxiety disorders in adolescents. Strengthening mediating variables and focusing on prevention and early intervention can mitigate the negative effects of these experiences. These findings underscore the importance of designing educational and psychological interventions for adolescents exposed to trauma.

The Relationship between Moral Indifference and Emotional Dysregulation with Bullying Behavior: The Mediating role of Social Exchange Power

Read More Background and Objective: Bullying in school is a form of interpersonal violence that can have adverse short-term and long-term consequences. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between moral indifference and emotional dysregulation with bullying behavior: the mediating role of social exchange power.Method: The method used in this study was descriptive-correlational, and the statistical population of this study included all second-year high school students in Khalkhal city in 1403, numbering 4633 people. The sample size was 355 people according to Morgan's table. The sampling method was multi-stage cluster random sampling and they were selected in person. They answered questionnaires (Bandura's Moral Indifference (1996), Bullying Scale (BS) (2011), Social Exchange Styles of Liebman et al. (2011), and Garanfsky's Emotional Regulation (2003)). Finally, data processing and analysis were performed .Findings: The findings of the study showed that the relationship between the variables of moral indifference and emotional dysregulation with bullying behavior is intensified by the variable of social exchange, and there is a significant direct relationship between the dimensions of moral indifference (moral justification, prudent labeling, beneficial comparison, responsibility shifting, responsibility sharing, distortion of consequences, attribution of blame, and inhumane behaviors) and emotional dysregulation (self-blame, acceptance, rumination, refocusing on planning, positive reappraisal, catastrophizing, and blaming others) with students' bullying behavior, and there is a significant inverse relationship between the dimensions of social exchange (fairness, pursuit, excessive investment, individualism, and self-interest) with students' bullying behavior.Conclusion: According to these findings, it can be concluded that if students have high levels of moral indifference and emotional dysregulation, they will have more bullying behavior, and social exchange is very important in reducing bullying behavior among students. With the help of school counselors, help can be obtained with the help of the results of this study to reduce bullying behavior

Modeling the Relationship between Alcohol Use and Internet Addiction: The Mediating role of Emotion Regulation

Read More Background and Objective: In recent years, with the spread of new addictive behaviors and the increase in drug and alcohol use among young people, attention to the underlying psychological mechanisms of these behaviors has become more important than ever. Accordingly, the aim of the present study was to model the relationship between alcohol consumption tendencies and cyberspace addiction with the mediating role of emotion regulation in students. Method: The research method was descriptive, correlational, and based on path analysis. The statistical population included all students of Malayer University in the academic year 2025-2026, from which the research sample was 250 people selected from them through a convenient method and they responded to the research tools including Sheikh's Alcohol Consumption Propensity Questionnaire (2014), Young's Internet Addiction Questionnaire (1998), and Gratz and Roemer's Emotion Regulation Difficulty Questionnaire (2004). The collected data were entered into SPSS version 26 software. Also, path analysis was used in AMOS version 24 software to test the conceptual model of the research and examine the direct effect of alcohol consumption on cyberspace addiction and its indirect effect through emotion regulation. Findings: The findings showed that difficulty in regulating emotions (β=0.28) had a direct and significant effect on alcoholism; parental cyberspace addiction (β=0.34) had a direct and significant effect on difficulty in regulating emotions. Cyberspace addiction (β=-0.30) had a direct and significant effect on alcoholism. The results also showed that difficulty in regulating emotions had a mediating role in the relationship between alcoholism and cyberspace addiction (β=0.098,P<0.05). Conclusion: These results support transdiagnostic frameworks in addiction pathology that emphasize the role of emotional processes as a mediator between individual vulnerabilities and the emergence of addictive behaviors. Therefore, preventive and therapeutic interventions focused on improving emotion regulation skills can be effective in simultaneously reducing alcohol use and cyberspace addiction.
